Default rx8-s2k copycat?

i just had a friend come and tell me what a great car the rx 8 wuz. so i went online to check it out.

turns out its a concept car from mazda due sometime in the new future. i wuz looking at what few specs they had up, and i seem to find alot of similarities to the s2k and i was thinking that they maybe modeled it after it.

1) i dunno what kind of engine the rx has specifically, but it revs to 9000, delivers almost the same amount of hp (270 somethin), and torque (160 something)...suprisingly conincidental

2) interior looks remarkably the same...including a racing start button

3) the lights are HID...i dont knoe about this one whether alot of cars have it or not

4)the suspension is double x wishbone...again i dont knoe whether alot of cars use the same type of suspension.

tell me if im paranoid and that i think every car is trying to be as good as the s2k, or if you find some similarities too...

1) RX has a rotary engine doesn't it? Not much similarity there...
2) S2000 was not the first with the start button, Honda copied others!!
3) Many, many Japanese cars have HID's
4) double x bone is pure racing suspension.... all sports cars shoud lhave it

They are not copying the S2000, it is just that the S2000 is a good design formula, and good sports cars are likely to be similar... IMHO

I would hardly call it a copycat. The entire concept of the RX8 is different than the S2K. The RX8 is a new generation 4 door sports car rather than a open 2 seater.

As far as the engine, rotaries love to rev because they have so few moving parts. Without adding turbo's its pretty torqueless down low.

I'm glad the sports car revolution seems to be coming back!

yeah dude, they're totally copying. some more "coincidences":

1) RX-8 is made of metal, just like the S2000!
2) RX-8 has letters and numbers in the model name
3) RX-8 has tires on all four wheels. They're even black AND round, just like on the S2000!
4) RX-8 will be made in Japan. By a Japanese company!

How dare they!

Yeah, rotaries make nice power for their displacement and all, but you have to keep in mind they're two stroke motors and they are damn near the WORST sounding engines on earth. Makes my stomach turn just to think about that aweful sound.

Of what year? We haven't even seen a production version of the car yet.
