I have a feeling it's your modifications that are slowing down your abilities in the twisties. Does the car seem like it wants to push in a turn then feel like it wants to snap around when you correct your throttle and steering?
From your picture I see you have a giant wing on the back. Do you have a front splitter or more front tire to balance out wing? From your sig it seems like you went to a square tire setup (17x9 with I guess a 255 tires) with a basic off the shelf lowering springs. Did you add a stiffer front sway bar or anything to compensate for the imbalance of tire grip? I imagine with that turbo, you stab at the throttle coming out of a turn you don't have enough rear tire for the power either.
I think you imbalanced your suspension. AP2's are pretty neutral handlers form the factory. I'd be willing to bet if you took off the wing and went back to a staggered tire setup you would have no problem keeping up with your pal.

Regardless, I stand by my assessment. Off the shelf lowering springs and screwing with the front/rear grip bias could lead to some handling issues.

Yes that's just random picture I got from google LOL
I have s-tech springs and koni shocks and it handles great but currently I have crappy tires haha
My mind is set on cr or any newest s2k I can find after I sell the car but I will test drive sti to see if it changes my mind.

For what the OP describes, I think AWD is superior. Even larger cars like the Acura SH-AWD is pure magic, in that you just point the car at a direction, hit the gas, it goes and turns. It is almost unreal. It actually is, because the car continuously makes decisions as to how to distribute the torque fore and aft, left and right, and which individual wheel to brake based on your your speed, lateral acceleration, steering wheel angle, etc.
The S on the other hand offers superior feel and driving fun. I enjoy the quick responding steering, the balance, the seating position, how well the suspension responds to inputs, and the low rotational momentum, which is really hard to get with most affordable cars...

Its always easier to drive AWD cars like Evo or STI. You need to be a pro to take them in corners on RWD car, while Evo can have just an average driver.
Evo and STI both cool cars but I dont think Evo has 6-speed manual, STI does. Also both have different AWD systems. Evo is torque vectoring and STI is not, but STI has option to control the front/rear split electronically
I cant vote in poll, Evo (STI) and S2k are just different cars. Technologically they are light years away even from BMWs etc.
