RWD newbie + slick crosswalk paint
#21
Just for clarification, I was breaking and downshifting from 3rd to 2nd before the turn, and started to accelerate about halfway through the turn while in second. The intersection was at two roads that both have two lanes going in each direction. There was also newly painted crosswalks.
I appreciate the advice ... kind of what I was expecting. Will spend some time in the parking lot, I guess.
Thanks again!

Be careful downshifting in wet conditions. And stay away from heal-towing through corners in wet def not a good idea (I made that mistake and luckily caught it before spinning all the way around).
You really need to get more comfortable with the car and its physics.
I have driven only FF cars before getting the S, and it took quite a while for me to gain confidence in my abillity to drive the car aggressively and to learn the limits of it.
Practicing in Parking lots is a good idea and Track events and Autocross will also be helpful. That way you can see the limits in both wet and dry conditions.
Good Luck and be Careful

That is going to be 3K worth of damage. Just so you know, they will give you the amount for a new wheel (which is nearly 500 from honda) and tire (200) You may as well, take a check for that money, sell off your remaining wheels, and buy a custom set. I had a cold tire crash a year ago and did that same thing.

i didnt read the whole thread but i agree with the person who mentioned going into a parking lot when its snowing/wet and purposely losing control of the car to learn how to gain it back. i live in CT and i've driven my S everyday inlcuding snow for almost 3 years now (3yrs in april). driving in snow/rain in empty parking lots is the only safe way to learn how to drive on these surfaces. people always say im crazy for driving the S in bad weather, but if you think about it, it makes you a better driver than if you only drive in nice weather. first day i got my S when i was barely 19, i took it to a parking lot and practiced counter-steering. now i do it for fun when its wet out and im on empty roads (dont wanna use the word drifting).
