it's just surface contaminates from around you.
just clay bar your car once a year then wax it good and you'll be fine.
just make sure that when you use the clay bar, use a lot of the spray lube that comes w/ it and your car will be smooth as silk after.

I have the same problem. It'll clay right off. I have no idea what it is, except that I'm pretty sure it's from my garage. I think I'll be getting a car cover for next winter.

I have the opinion and have confirmed with a detailer I know that the tiny rust flecks are ferrous hot metal from the brakes and pads that land in the paint…seems crazy but best explanation I have ever heard…I see them more on the back of a car than anywhere else…maybe the low pressure area on the back pulls them in….just my opinion…
