Default Which runs richer in an ap2?

I will be switching my 05 ecu to an 00 ecu. I am hoping the 00 ecu will be the same or a little richer than my 05 ecu, for safety issues. I know as the years go, the ecu's lean out. But is it different since it is an ap1 00ecu in an ap2? Ex. 00 ecu in 03 ap1 = richer. 03 ecu in 00 ap1 = leaner. How will the 00 ecu be in the ap2?

00-01 is richer, I'd get a VAFC to go along with it to tune your car to perfection.

one quick question to go along with this thread. I'm thinking of switching my ecu out (have an 01) for an 02 or an 03 ecu. My question is does it JUST give more bottom end. Does it loose top end at all? I've heard reviews how it's great in the bottom end and in the mid range but have not heard if it looses anything up top. Please respond if you have any insight.

00-01's fall flat on their face above 8700rpm. stock car are dyno'ing at only 170 or whp above the 8700rpm mark. my stock 02 made 182rwhp at 8600rpm. with a vafc tune my car (with other mods) puts 221.2 to the wheels at 8500rpm, basically peak power is a redline, just a few hundred rpm before.

00/01 ECUs gain around 20+ rwhp above 8300 RPM. That is the downfall of these early models. Above 8000 in 2nd or 3rd gear and the car just seems to almost creep the last 1000 RPMs.

VAFC tuning on these early years nets around 8-12 peak and midrange power, and the 20+ in the final 700 RPMs.
