Has anybody seriouly looked into these? A friend of mine is gonna do them on his Dakota so that he can pull the spare tire.

For those looking to get bass in their car this is the way to go! Drop that spare tire put in a big sub box to fill the spot and your done! No lost space and bass.

I think maybe even before I go to VA I might have to pimp my car out with some nice separates up front and a set of bass shakers! Along with a hidden 4 channel amp somewhere.

Pinky,

Are you referring to EMT's? I had posted a question a while back regarding these tires. A friend had them on his vette and was suprised the S2K didn't. He felt any car built for high speeds should have them as standard equipment. If I remember correctly, the responses were that they were too heavy and didn't handle as well.

Yea those are the ones that can be driven for a while with no air/low air in them. I figured that they wouldn't be able to handle as well as conventional ones. Plus there is extra sensing equipment that is needed and all kinds of other stuff! Plus extra weight.

The easiest way to improve handling on a C5 Corvette is to ditch the run flat tires - they're not too impressive. More weight, plus rubber compounds compromised to withstand driving down the highway w/ a flat tire. Plus you'd probably want to have a tire pressure monitoring system, since you can't easily detect low pressure visually.

I wouldn't do it myself to a sports car.

Yep, me too. They are much heavier and have poorer performance.

GM went to great lengths to make the rim weight light to offset the extra weight of the EMT...

Consider, folks... this is UNSPRUNG weight we are talking about. I don't personally know how much it would affect the handling, but I do know its supposed to...

I've heard that every pound of unsprung weight you remove from the car is equal to 4 lbs of weight removed elsewhere in the car...
