Rude S2K drivers
#41
Yeah it happens but it's really the minority of cases yes? I've only been ignored by one or two other drivers that I know for sure have seen me. Most act like retards and hoot and holler and want to tell me how excellent there cars are
Have faith. Those who aren't stoked enough to give another owner a nod or wave won't have the car long.

I have had plenty of situations like that. Ill beeb at a fellow S2K driver and they will look back at me like I have three heads. I guess all S2K owners are not as enthusiastic about their cars as we are.

So far in my little town, the score is one silver one red (other than mine ) and one yellow, all tops down, and waving back.
One BLACK in town now on three occasions, top up and NO wave or acknowledgement at all. Has had a man and a woman driving. Not sure its the same car, but definitely the same reaction.
I think this can happen for five reasons, and maybe a couple more:
1) The driver doesnt have the sense or sight to tell you are both driving the same car (so watch out).
2) The other driver is totally into their s2k experience (in the "Zone") and cant be bothered by trivial matters such as waving at every passerby.
3) This driver is a hot chick that is going to snub everybody that doesnt look like Brad Pitt so dont take it personal. (unless you are Brad Pitt)
4) This driver is a rich snob that is out to impress and is pissed that a "commoner" is hailing them from a like vehicle. In all likelihood this will prompt them to immediately sell the s2k and buy a more expensive impress-o-car to show off. This problem will solve itself.
5) the driver is actually you and you are sitting next to a highly reflective surface. Simply wave again and they will simultaneously respond in kind.

BTW. . .
I've got a story to share as well. . .
Before I bought the '02, I was the only person in New Bern to have a Berlina Black with Red S2000. Then, these folks moved here from Florida and bought a Berlina Black with Black. I saw it in the dealership and was SHOCKED to see another Black S2000! I wanted to meet the new owners and left the salesman my business card to give to them. Well, a week goes by and nothing. Then, as I am driving home one afternoon, I see it up ahead and decide to pull up next to them (I had my TOP down and they had their TOP up!!!). I pull up beside him at the stop light and he looks right at me. Then he looks over to his passenger and you could tell he said something sarcastic. . .he looks back at me and I am motioning for him to roll down his window. He does. . .but with a look of displeasure. . .I then ask, "hey, how are you enjoying your new S2000?" He replies, "oh, I think I have your card, see you around. . ."
I'm thinking WTF!!!!!!! It's as if he thought his car was better than mine. . .unfortunately, it really pissed me off and I wanted to yell. . .hey, asshole. . .I paid $6,000 over sticker for mine!
But, that would not have made me look any better!
Some S2000 owners are IDIOTS and need to be driving those shitty new Thunderbirds instead and leave the S2000 for someone who will truly appreciate it!

This is a new millennia...women of the west are much more liberated...rightfully so
gone are the days when a young man in a convertible or nice car was able to win the hearts of the ladies...most likely, as your experience indicates, they drive such automobiles themselves.

In addition, though it was not your intention and as several other members have pointed out, she probably thought you were "hitting" on her...
Which leads me to my next point. I believe the car you drive isnt really an indicator of personal wealth now-a-days. Indeed, most anyone with a meager income can afford something respectable. Yet, there in lies the problem. Given such an abundance of "fine" automobiles on the roads and highways, it takes something really special or exotic to impress drivers these days.
