rpm difference in models
Hi im new to these boards and was wondering which year s2k i should get. i noticed that the rpm limit for the 00-03 models was 9000 and the newer ones were 8000? i was just wondering what this 1000 rpm change does and how it effects performance.

the newer AP2 model have the 8k redline becuase they were restorked to 2.2L instead of the AP1 2.0L. The are short a 1000 rpm but they have more power and are better quailty in more than one way.
the older AP1 revs to 9000 but are more of a raw speedster, they have a little less power but i love them all the more
btw there are many forums and stickies on the forum that discuss the differences

I've enjoyed both cars...driving the ap2 I never missed the extra 1k rpm or noticed the extra torque.
When getting a used car...buy the newest, lowest milage, no accident (or minor accident only) car you can afford. Don't worry about wether it is ap1 or ap2 unless you absolutely have to have 9k rpm for some reason.

The AP1 has the extra 1000rpm of Vtec which you may like. The AP2 is a little more refined+a little more power, both models are great for various reasons which ever suits your needs is the car i'd get.
