Anyone that wants to ask about bald tires: sorry, you have no idea what you're talking about and should move on. Look at the pics; it's bone dry. You could be on slicks and it wouldn't matter. Unless his tires were so bald he was cording them, the tires were not an issue (even then, it would be risking the integrity of the tire, not the grip). Tread (on a street tire) is for rain, that's it.
If there is a lot of gravel on the road, then no tire will help you. It will also cause you to spin out too.

Out of a bit of random curiousity how tall are you? At my height I can't see myself surviving a rollover in the S.

Don't know why everyone thinks its totaled although with repair prices these days it most likely is just based on repair costs, but the frame should be fine.

I rolled my FIAT 124 Spider the first week I owned it back in 1974, insurance fixed it and I drove that car for 34 years before I traded it in on the S (I keep my cars a very long time, my other car I had 36 years) and I did bend the frame on the 124, they fixed it fine and now days with the technology they have then can probably straighten the frame even better then new.

im 6'0" and i will definitely try to get another ap1
but if this one is repairable ill be getting a rollbar because i wouldnt trust a "repaired" window frame to break the fall in case of another rollover

ap1, crushed rear quarter panels I'd say it's totaled. If you can buy it back for under $2000 you could part it out and maybe make a few bucks on it. You need to really look into your local autocross and get involved. You don't have to have crazy money in the car or exspect to win just go out and have fun. I ran on all seasons for my whole first year. It was prolly the best learning tool for me.

I also wreaked my ap1 one day playing around on the back roads. I came around a turn to hot and lost the rear, spun and slide up into a bush line. I was lucky and only tore up a rear bumper. Since then I only drive agressivly at the autocross track.

err sounds like you don't know what you're talking about! treaded tires are not meant to be bald. if you came around the corner on a DRY road and hit a patch of gravel, that's all it would take.
