wow i'm really surprised the windshield collapsed. i always felt safe driving the S over something like the miata was because of how rigid the windshield was and woudln't collapse in case of a roll over..either way glad ur unhurt from that because some pics i've seen of miatas with collasped windshields weren't so pretty.

Regarding the "don't beat yourself up over it" comment, IMO it's entirely appropriate that you *should* beat yourself up over it, and pretty severely, too.
DO TRACK DAYS. If nothing else, you will learn that the real fun/challenge happens at 10/10ths, and that you just can't approach that level on the street.
On the street it doesn't make any sense whatsoever to do more than ~6-7/10ths. 8/10ths isn't really much more challenging than 6/10ths, the critical difference being that you give yourself much less margin for error.
And of course track experience will hone your responses and reflexes so that when something unexpected does happen you will be more likely to recover.

Glad you are ok, just don't smash on mountain roads like that ever again. that's how I totaled my last car, and an acquaintance of mine nearly got killed going off the side (the barbed wire and a post kept him from going over.)
It could have been a lot worse than a rolled S2K. Be careful out there.
