358 bhp
5.4 seconds 0-60
13.8 @ 105.6

--------

Boost:
1 pound @ 4k
3.5 pounds@6k
8 pounds @ 9k

----------

"Shorter sidewall tires and stiffer springs" may have resulted in lower than expected acceleration gains (with respect to stock).

Is that boost right????

only 1 pound at 4k and 3.5 at 6k? A good turbo can walk all over this SC if those numbers are indeed correct.

Also, people have obtained those acceleration numbers with stock S2000's . . .

I think its the old launching problem. R&T historically has recorded times in the 14.0-14.2@99-100 range for stock S2000s. That they picked up 6 mph despite not being able to get off the line is acceptable. However, I'm guessing they just could get it to hook right. Probably spin or bog.

Given the ability to get a good launch, I would expect either a Comptech or Vortech equipped car would be able to eclipse the 13.4@108 that Motor Trend recorded last year with a Comptech car. 12's would be a stretch on regular tires, but on drag radials it might be possible. Just need to get someone who can drive, and who is willing to abuse the car, to make a pass :-)

Oh, and R&T does not correct their times, so conditions do play a role (that's why they usually list altitude, temp, etc. in their road tests).

Some people on this board agree that the S was not designed as a drag car.

I'm sure R&T didn't want to break Vortech's project car. Some people are willing to do those high RPM clutch drops, but most are probably not.

I don't know enough about it to comment about the times. So I'm done now.

Vortech would be better off if they would have abused the car and got some respectable numbers to post.
