Sounds like a PIG to me. I thought these cars were going
to really run! I even put a deposit down to switch the
typhoon. No way in hell i am now
the old UK WAGON version w/ 215 HP would hit 100mph in 14.9
which is pretty decent compared to our 227hp 300lb heavier
sedan.
guess we'll have to wait for the STI (if it ever makes it)

IMO, the new Impreza WRX looks ugly and gay and they don't seem that fast out of factory, but one thing to remember is they are "turbo" cars so adding an exhaust, downpipe, turning up the boost, we have to watch our butt.
The WRX is also a bang for the buck car and I just hope the look of the car will grow in me then I might trade in my Prelude SH for it.

I guess it depends on which way the tailpipe hangs?

Sime, it's more or less what Ultimate lurker said. WRX is (and always was) an awesome 'take-off' car - it leaps of the line and covers ground real well when launched from stand-still. When it moves it's nowhere as fast as the numbers suggest. If you look at past WRX reviews then notice the terminal velocity for the 400m (1/4 mile) - it's somewhere between 145 - 155km/h (93m/h falls in that range) depending on the day (ie. wetaher, road, etc).
If you compare that to the S2000 then when you cross the 400m line, you should be doing good 10km/h more than the WRX ... though there's a chance that that WRX will still be ahead of you :-) That's talking about the previous model ... the new model is good 0.3 sec slower than the old one over the 400m as well as 0-100km/h.

The AWD will introduce some more drag as well.
And I agree that the car is ugly... but if you live in a place where AWD comes in handy (either Baha or snow country) then it seems like a nice toy.
