omfg! 45k us? eff that! japan here i come!
Or just import one from Japan.... loads of right handers in Korea too... and most people are annoyed with driving a right hander in a left hand world.. i almost bought one, but my work has a parking garage that requires you to swipe a card everytime... which means i would have to step out of the car just to get into my garage, or one of the thousands of toll roads here... but right handers are WAY cheaper than left hand drive...
Good things about right hand drive in a left hand world:
1. easy parallel parking
Bad things:
1. inconvenient
2. indicator controls and wiper controls are also on different sides... (I think the hardest thing to get use to...)
3. loads of missed shifts....
4. you look like a total dork

You wont have any problem importing a JDM s2000. The car was manufactured to meet all world crash standards and will need very minor if any modifications to be imported. Also if going for a car from Japan try to get a 2004 model used. Used cars in Japan have very low mileage and depreciate at extreme rates (5 year old cars over there are valued about as much as 10-15 year old cars over here.)
Oh and about disadvantages of rhd, actually parellel parking is the biggest disadvantage. Sure parking the car close to the curb is easier, but if your between 2 cars (or in the US more likely 2 suv's) then good luck getting out. You can't see the traffic coming so you have to just inch out slowly and hope no one hits you (I know this from experience driving a jdm rhd civic in a city).

Only Americans want the 2.2... don't know why... it seems like the essence of the S2000 is the 9000rpm engine.. it's what makes it stand apart from any other car... The best is when Americans complain about the steering wheel being too small... I wish you could get the German version in the US.. that would be cool
On a side note.. i have always wonder 2 things,
1. Why is there a difference in countries on the side of the road you drive in, hence the side of the car your drive it??? any history facts? where does the idea comes from?? always wanted to know that
2. why are there diferent shapes in license plates. long Euro plates versus the wolrd???? history facts again?? anybody
