IMO, if you want a cover that's going to fit in the trunk, it can't be a hard one. Carbon fiber, or something similar, even if it is built in three pieces, is still going to take up too much space.

I don't think the factory one looks that bad. It is way too much trouble to install and remove. The only time I've used it has been when the weather was "really" nice and I knew I was going to have the top down for the day. If I even remotely think I'll be cycling the top, the cover stays at home because I simply don't want to mess with it.

I don't think that a properly designed and sown soft cover, vinyl or leather, would look that bad and it could be rolled up which would take up "much" less space in the trunk.

Just a thought!

I personally think the OEM 2006 3 piece is BS, and it will never come out. As for hard covers...A properly designed one would fit in the trunk no problem, and there ARE NO good looking ones, except the CF one from canada for $1000. The Veilside IMHO looks terrible.

That's the one modification I wish Honda would make. Most roadsters come with either a tonneau built in (350Z) or a top that tucks away neatly (Z4). Small complaint though for such a great car...

Stratocastor -

I was the one who recommended this to Rick a few months ago. I talked with Rick a few weeks ago (via email), and he said he was going to check on the production of this when he got back (he was in Oklahoma, or something like that....after he got back from London).

I would go ahead and see if you can manurfacture it. If Honda wants $450 for their center console conversion, I cant imagine what the tonneau will cost. Plus, it was supposed to be unveiled at the Frankfurt Autoshow, but it want there. I think Honda may have slammed on the brakes at the last second on this one. If they do end up making it, the price will probably be so high that you could easily make yours and still turn a decent profit.

My mom knows a regional sales manager. I will put in a call this week and see if I can scare up some photos.

holy crap.

Dash stroking at its finest.

OEM cover not only works fine, it fits perfectly inside of our tiny trunk.
Perhaps, change your method?

what about something made in a fabric material like the oem, but that has some foam bolstering to make the raised pods behind the roll hoops. It would give it more of a solid look, but still be foldable.

Either way, I wouldnt buy one though! Too much bother to put on/take off.

I know this doesnt fit the topic, however I would like someone to make a lap blanket and some method of hooking it into the car so that a person can drive around with the top down when its chilly out. Sort of like what the old MG's used to have.

I've seriously considered doing this on my own, but I'm not sure how one would hook it down so it doesnt come up while driving.
