I know you guys contribute a lot to this board and have recently taken delivery of your S2000.

I'm waiting around for mine if you don't know already. Should be here sooner than expected.

I've studied this car. Read all of the posts. It's obvious this car is special. But just how good does it feel to have it now? I'm having second thoughts about it. I'm even scared of the whole rain slippage thing. To the point where I'm starting to think my Civic sticks better in the rain than the S2000.

Vtec, it doesn't rain in San Francisco more than 50% of the time, in fact except maybe for the winter, far less than that.

Would you really give up all the good days because of a few bad days? (kind of like life huh?)

Sorry if anything I've posted has helped dissuade you from buying this car. Anything negative that anyone has said about driving this car in the rain would apply to just about any high-performance rear-wheel drive car. Because our car is a roadster with a plastic rear window makes it a little worse, but certainly far from unbearable.

Just be careful on the wet days and be thankful you live somewhere where you can drive top down year 'round! (Except when it's raining of course!)

I think some trepidation is normal, especially with a high performance car of this kind. Of the twelve days that have passed since my car was delivered, it's been the the shop for seven so that the various modifications I've planned can be installed, so my driving time has been limited.

But every day I drove the car I got more and more confident with it as I learned its handling characteristics. It's a great drive, and I wouldn't worry about all of the gloomy posts about its handling in the rain and cold, etc. Many of these, I think, are a consequence of members inexperience with rear wheel drive.

But it is a high performance car, which makes it very sensitive to driver inputs, and the sensitivity increases in the wet, as it does with any car. So your driving has to be smooth and controlled. I love the car for that reason and my time behind the wheel so far has been all fun and no anxiety.

Don't fear. You'll love it.

So on days that are dry and 55F +, does the car stick like glue?

It seems that the day I bought my S2000 was the same time we broke our record drought. There have been few weekends without rain where I live. In spite of owning another vehicle for rainy days I'm usually torn when it comes to leaving the stook at home. I've made a couple long distance drives in heavy rains without incident or any surprises. My daily drive in the rain usually involves being a little more careful because of others. With some common sense and a little more care the rain is nothing to fear with the S2000. On good tires I feel the wet handling is better than my old Miata. Of course if you want to drive more aggressively in the rain you better know how to be smooth. The car will easily steer with your foot if you are abrupt on wet pavement.
Remember before you approach VTEC the characteristics of this car can be as amiable as your Civic. It all depends on how you decide to push it. Personally I wouldn't worry too much about the rain this car handles extremely well wet or dry.

VTEC,

I took delivery a couple of weeks ago. Believe me, all your reservations will fade when you see your new car sitting there at the dealer waiting for you. After 2 weeks and 850mi, i've come to the conclusion that I don't deserve such a fine car. Mine is red and flashy (opposite of my personality btw) After driving college beaters and finally graduating, I can afford it but it performs soo fantastically I feel as though i'm still dreaming. It hasn't hit me that I actually own one yet. As for the rain handling, I've driven several times in the rain with no problems whatsoever. Use your head and take her easy, no problems.
I will NEVER regret purchasing this car. It is hands down a great investment in fun and real engaging experience to drive.
Have fun and see you on the roads.

BTW, it's bucketing down hear as I type. I just had to rush back from a job because there's talk of hail.

I took it easy, no clutch drops and very little VTEC. Driven like a normal car this thing hangs in better than anything I've driven (including an underpowered BMW 318is).

With out a doubt, the only thing scary about an S2000 is the nut that holds the wheel.
