I have found it means they want to race. Try telling them when the next local autoX is and see if they show up.

Well... with the car I drive, when they beep at me I get the impression that they're trying to show off because my car is old. But when I'm in my friend's car (G35), I get the impression that they want to go at it.

i've been getting a lot of revs and lately. i heard one guy rev (going opposite direction) and yell out "that's hot!" so i guess revving means a good thing.

Man, I get revved on plenty. What's even funnier is the famous fly-by. Not long after I got mine, I had a Kia Rio fly-by dangerously close to me, cut me off, then flashed the hazards.

ya they just want to race... i had some guy rev at me in his eclipse at a stoplight. i revved back and his jaw dropped. he took off at the light and i waited a bit. i took off after him and smiled and nodded as i passed him like nothing.

revving's all the rage where i'm from too. i generally choose to resist the return-rev. BTW, is it bad to free rev above 6K?
