Field of view, line of sight and sitting height of driver. You're right, I don;t know for sure, but you take all those factors into account, plus the idea of rigid glass does't fold, probably similar mechanism of action and they probably couldn't keep the same field of view. Especially with most everyone complaining of the bad plastic and desire for rear glass like the SLK,etc...????
I guess we can speculate all we want, maybe I'm just jealous with my plastic (which is holding up nicely)!

So how do you protect our plastic windows when they are folded? Sorry if this sounds like a dumb question, but i just got my S2000 and I want to keep my plastic rear nice for a while..any suggestions? is there something i can make to protect the rear window?

Also, buy a MuzMat to protect the inside of the window. Use a towel or tube on the outside at the fold.
Don't leave the window down for weeks in the heat. I found that out the hard way.
