Replace rear plastic window with glass
Does anyone know if the 2001 S2K will be able to have the rear plastic window replaced with the 2002 glass window?
The reason I ask is because when I took delivery of my car, the rear window had some weird marks on it; like it had a sticker on it about the size of a license plate and somebody ripped it off fast leaving an outline of the object. The dealer said not to worry, they would take of it. Since then I keep calling them but they keep saying they are still checking into the situation and what can be done to replace it. I am now considering calling them to request that they forget replacing the plastic window and look into putting in the new 2002 glass one instead. They will probably try to charge me if it is possible, not sure.
I have been very happy with the car with the exception of this outstanding issue. Any recommendations or information would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you,
Dawn

No word on the glass retrofit yet, but there have been some rumors of kit. My thought is that the glass retrofit kit would be quite expensive and might entail an entire top replacement.
If a sticker was placed on your window, you can clean off with something like goo-gone. If it's a scratch you or the dealer can clean it with Meguiar's No. 10 Plastic Polish. If it's more of a dent in the plastic, let it sit out in the sun all day.
You can get Meguiar's here:

Let us know if you get anywhere with the dealership. I have been thinking of asking my dealer for the same thing after the rear window starts to get messed up.

Mikey, the window damage is kind of weird looking. It is not adhesive, not a scratch. Looks like something was there and when they pulled it off it kind of stretched it a little in a rectangular shape, like the outline of a license plate. If I can borrow a digital camera from someone I will post an image. Sitting in the sun does no good. I'm in Arizona so it has seen enough sun, that's for sure. I appreciate the suggestions though.
Anyone else out there that knows about putting the glass window in as a replacement please let me know.
Thanks,
Dawn

Well if it's been sitting out in Arizona sun, it sounds to me as if something has permanently stretched or dented your window. Maybe it was a temporary dealer plate.
In any case, I'd just ask the dealership to "fix it". Tell them it's not acceptable and you need it to look like it should. If they give you any trouble, escalate it to the zone manager.
They will probably have to replace the plastic. It's a big job but Honda has done it for a number of owners with damaged rear windows.
