Removing Window Tint
Hi,
Does anyone know of a mixture I can use at home to remove window tint. Mine is starting to bubble and peel, so i like to remove it and put on another one.
thanks for the help.

you just peel it off and then use razor blades to take off the glue. get a lot of razor blades and the dark blue windex. make sure there is a lot a of windex on the window when you are scraping the window. i was told this from the place that did my windows on my old car and they bin doing it for years.

02SPAS is correct. I have taken my tint off several times and I go through about 5 razor blades and use a lot of windex. It comes right off. There is a lot of glue that tends to be a bit messy but I just wipe it off and keep going.

Perhaps I'm overstating the obvious (and I have *no* experience here), but all this talk of razor blades... Doesn't the '02 glass rear window have a defroster? Is the defroster wire fused inside the rear window, or is it a applique stuck to the rear window? If stuck to...then be careful with the razor blades.
Again, being a "lucky" plastic window owner, I can't speak of such things...but this was the first thing that came to my mind as I heard all the discussion about razor blades.

I have no idea about the defroster on an 02. I have a hardtop and you do have to be careful with not cutting the defroster lines. Just use goo gone to remove the glue on the lines. It takes some time but its not too difficult.

The best way is to spay a soap/water solution to the window (sparingly) and then stick a black garbage bag on the window, and let it bake in the sun for about 45 minutes. I can't explain how it works, but when you start to peel it off, (leave the bag attached to the tint as you peel it off) the window, the glue sticks the tint, not on the glass. My buddy is a tinter and I had a "tint day" at my house
and watched him do this to my neighbors GT.
