anyone know how easy it is to remove/replace the horn pad?
My H logo was a bit dented (pre-owned car) and I tried to pull it out to work on it and made it worse. So I was wondering if the service manual lists how easy/hard it is to remove the center section of the wheel -- the horn pad that says SRS on it and the H-Logo.
I'd think its easy, but not too sure since there is an airbag in the wheel. And also, since its the same part as the Insight uses, it shouldnt be that expensive, right?
any help is appreciated.
thanks!

air bag is removed as on complete unit. Due to the sensitive nature of the airbag....I bet it is either glued in or part of the molding process.
Good Luck

Maybe Rick Hesel can help. He has purchased the whole steering wheel to experiment with leather mods. You may wind up having to replace the entire wheel. Rick, are you there?

I am betting Rick did not get the center part with Airbag as part of the wheel... but seriously, due to the dangerous nature of the airbag... buy a helms manual or take it to a dealer.

I wasnt going to fiddle around with the pad until I knew for sure if it was something easily removed or not...
since its not, I think I can wait
thanks for the replies!

I bought only the wheel, which does not come with the center assembly. According to the exploded drawing of parts for the wheel on http://www.hondaautomotiveparts.com , the emblem appears to be part of the whole airbag assembly, which costs a cool $475.
That's a very expensive emblem!
I don't know what to recommend. My guess is a dealer will tell you that the whole assembly has to be replaced, although I bet if you can find the emblem somewhere a skilled mechanic could replace the bent one easily.

Looks like I am sorta shafted...
oh well, I wonder if just removing the emblem and finding something to cosmetically cover up the remains would work...
I mean even a piece of plastic that is the right size and painted silver would look better than the dented up stock piece...
more digging around to do
thanks Rick!

Have you tried a scrap yard that has wrecked S2Ks? I remember seeing a post on H-A.net which gave a web address where you could check your area for dead S2Ks.
