[QUOTE=JLUDE,Feb 18 2011, 08:43 AM] There are parts that are an upgrade to OEM parts but with a car that came with high end Projector headlamps that is never the case.
Honda's S2000 was to employ the very first ever factory HID projector system in a Honda.

Until someone buys a set and test it out, it is considered a downgrade to the projector. This is no different than buying replicas that are not up to par with the real thing. Most times there are pluses and minuses to buying replicas. The plus mainly is cost which I I think these lights are too expensive for being aftermarket. But if someone likes them, buy a set and do a proper comparison which will do good for the community.
I would love to see a side by side comparison on a white wall of the OEM Honda lamp (high and low beams) vs. the aftermarket one.

Honda went to Stanley/Kyoto with their headlight design and had them build a high output low beam D2S HID projector. The projector was one of a kind, has never been seen in any other vehicle. The performance of the Stanley made S2000 HID projector was astounding as HID projectors go. In fact to this day it still ranks in the top 3 HID projectors of all time in terms of light output intensity, width and beam sharpness. It took hundreds of thousands of R&D dollars to produce this projector for the S2000 headlamp.
Do you really think that a crappy headlight with any old Hong Kong or China made projector is going to be an upgrade to the Honda lamp?

[QUOTE=Saki GT,Feb 18 2011, 11:06 AM] Plenty of high quality products come from China, and you are talking about an 11 year old design on the original, which was scrapped for a redesign in 2004, still a 7 year old system.

Maybe technology and design has advanced and found its way into these aftermarket assemblies - no one knows, but its not worth dismissing out of hand imo.

The design of the headlight cluster was changed in 2004 but the projector remained the same throughout the production run, with only a slight change in introducing a Fresnel pattern to the lens. You are obviously missing the point of the discussion that you responded to which deals with the projector's performance characteristics, not the aesthetic quality of the cluster. Regardless of your feelings on the whole cluster, the fact that the projector and hid system itself is very well designed cannot be disputed.
