Regret Molesting Your S2K?
#22
I never regret my mods, although none of them make the car sound or lookk too different. Just an upgraded head unit w/ the modifry harness, clutch, and SoS high boost kit. Every time I put my foot down it makes me smile and it still drives/sounds/looks stock.

No ragrets.
Technically I molested my car by rolling the fenders, everything else is easily reversible and I saved all the OEM parts (seats, wheels, exhaust, etc). I do appreciate the previous owners keeping a 6 year old car mint/stock for me, but I'm not in the business of preserving it for the next guy. My tastes have changed over the years, prefer an OEM+ type look now and try to keep it clean.

I remember feeling similar to this with my civic. That car taught me a lot about what I wanted and didn't want on future builds. I have definitely molested my S, but with minor parts (to me). Passwordjdm intake, Tein Flex, 17" wheels, shift knob, and lugnuts. Nothing too crazy. I love the look of it and it doesn't feel ricey. I'm 32 yrs old so I can understand people looking at you at certain way or even you feeling a certain way when you go somewhere bothering you. For me I take my time and think about every part that gets installed. I'm trying to build something classic so I'm not constantly installing/removing parts. Hope that all makes sense.

I'm a young s2k owner and am afraid to even put small mods on it for fear of ruining it for future generations, but like 1nate7 said we shouldn't be worried about anyone else owning/appreciating the car besides us. Your car, your decisions, in the end-your satisfaction.

I am the original owner of my 2003 Silverstone with black interor. 11 years next month!
My philosophy with mods has been one of improving what little about the car needed improvement.
I'm not an audiophile (I understand the stock stereo is weak) so I just added the rear speakers to the system (Stock unit has the connectors for it, everything works as before, but with rear speakers now)so still "stock".
I installed a german-made insulating cover for the inside of the soft top, looks stock but isolates heat and sound and is not noticeable, it hides the unsightly frame/tubes of the convertible top.
Rick's floor mats are superior quality and match the stock carpet, same for the console leather cover, and shift lever boot leather cover, wind deflector and the headrest hole covers, all from Ricks, all high quality and pretty stock-looking, the wind buffeting noticeably less with the aforementioned modifications.
The factory Honda titanium shift knob. Again, better quality (IMHO) than the stock lever, this piece is NICE.
Changed the stereo front cover from the stock plain featureless black to the more recent silver one with the S2000 logo, again stock as it matches the other silver panels in the dash.
Factory S2000 car cover where my car sleeps every night in its enclosed garage.
Last but not least: For its 10th birthday I got the Arqray Schaferhund cat back exhaust system from Japan, not cheap but a stainless steel work of art and the sound is definitely better than stock (I was hesitant about messing with a solid exhaust system)but this is just amazing stuff, car sounds beautiful; louder yes, but not annoying, and combined with the CT engineering high flow air filter (in the stock airbox) the car DEFINITELY has more uummph.
I have all the stock parts stored, but other than perhaps getting tired of the louder exhaust (I doubt it, as this car is a weekend toy) meant for leisurely top down drives in the twisties, but I can see where some people could get tired/annoyed with the louder exhaust for the daily commute... I plan on leaving the mods as they are, I don't feel the car has been "molested" in any way or form, it has been improved.
Anyway, that's my story.
This car to me is one of a kind, its platform was not shared with any other Honda and its drivetrain is exquisite and unique, not as exotic -or expensive- as the Europeans but in reality probably better built.
I plan to keep it forever, I feel I am through with the modifications and it's time to just enjoy the gem Soichiro wanted us to have.
Cheers everybody!
Daniel
