.... I set it up at 7900 rpm & 200rpm intervals.
I also set mine at 7900 rpm [100 rpm below redline on my 2.2L ] but used 300 rpm intervals..... I found that when winding up in 1st or 2nd gear the 100 and 200 intervals alerts came too close together. Guess my reaction time is beginning to suffer with age. Have managed not to bounce off the rev limiter since going to the 300 rpm intervals.

BE CAREFUL when removing the cover, otherwise easy install.
Good point on the cover ....... the tabs that attach it to the dash are horizontal so you want to pull the cover straight out and not out and down like you could do if the tabs were vertical.

Mine was cracked when I looked at it about a year after installation so I taped it up, and another guy I know had his completely break.
I have seen this too. I bought one of the first batches that Modifry was selling and I've had no problems with it in all these years. However, another local owner here got one a year or so later and his did exactly as Mike describes.

From my understanding, the RX-8 comes with something like this stock. I've seen it on Top Gear, where it will beep a second or so before he has to shift at redline.

xviper, so u set the desired shift point and at the point there is a loud extended beep, right? before that point there are 3 beeps?
lets say i set the shift point at 7900 and spaced the beep at 200rpm intervals. so this is what would happen...
beep -> beep -> beep -> extended beep
7300 -> 7500 -> 7700 -> 7900

is this correct?

Correct. Depending upon your driving style and the way your car is set up, you may need to have the first beep come very soon and the intervals longer.
I find that with a supercharger and gears, my first and second gear redlines too fast for me to react to unless I set the first beep early and the interval between beeps long. The higher gears is no problem, but in those, I have time to look at the tach anyway. There simply is no time to look in 1st and 2nd (and sometimes third if I'm concentrating on the outside world).

In this vid, you can just hear the shift beeper and as you can see, once I get on it, everything happens very fast and I think I still hit the rev limiter once (due to hitting something slippery on the road). I had to go into 3rd a lot slower to catch the tail end as it was starting to break loose.

My old RX-7 had that from the factory. And let me tell you, it was pretty useful. It wasn't so much as a beep, but a really annoying buzzer... definitely made you want to shift just to get rid of the damn sound, lol.

When you say ONE of best mods to keep me driving at redline, what other mods are out there that will help me shift at redline?
