I had the same problem and had already attached the front one so I'll never know if I put the wrong one up front, but I followed the instructions to a T and think that they just don't fit in the rear.
So I broke off the pegs for the rear one, sanded it down and added more double sided material to it and attached it.
Still on and seems secure - time will tell.

It had something to do with factory replacement vs. accessory pricing, with replacement being a helluva lot more expensive.

Ok, everyone else was right. I was wrong. (And ricks2k.com's directions)
I was trying to fit the front badge on the rear. It all works now, though I'm not sure I like the red H on the front all that much. It's bigger than my old badge. I like the one on the rear though
