Hi All,
Sorry for the stupid question, but can someone please better clarify what a problem differential sounds like? I'm trying to read all the related posts, but there are just too many descriptions to keep them all straight (e.g. metallic noise/grind, loose washer rattling, clunking, humming, etc.). For those that have a confirmed diff problem, which does yours most sound like?
I only question this, since I just want to be aware of any potential problems (and I *do* hear something that sounds like a "loose washer rattling" in my car when decelerating in third gear at about 4kRPM).
Thanks in advance!

I thought that the "loose washer rattling" noise when decel. was commming from the clutch. I had read on the board about the updated clutch parts. However, when I went to the dealer about it and asked about the updated clutch parts I heard about they said they did not know about them and THEY offered to do the tsb 055 (gear dets)fix. I figured I might as well have the updated parts so..., they looked at the car and said they heard a noise that to them sounded like the rear end. I don't know if they heard the metallic noise or something else because the next time I drove the car there was all sorts of noise including the original "metallic" noise. The dealer had drained the fluid in the rear end and replaced it after finding metal particles which made the problem much worse. After the fluid was replaced and I drove the car I heard definate loud at times undulating noises comming from the rear end, clearl from the rear diff. These noises I had not heard before the original trip to the dealer about the clutch. I am waiting for parts and answers.
What are the chances of a dealership purposely encouraging or even creating warranty work? Is there a significant incentive for this? I wonder.
