rear diff

rear diff
I was just wondering if an AP2 rear diff will fit in an AP1. I blew my diff yesterday, second time, and I am just going to be replacing it with a used diff this time. Last time I rebuilt it with the KIA 4.77 gears.

I use to launch my car, but I stopped doing that when I blew out the first diff. This time I blew out the diff when shifting from first to second. I am not going to lie, I do drive my car very hard. All my friends know that I drive my cars the way they were meant to be driven. I enjoy the car and know you have to pay to play. I think, the diff gave out because I was running the KIA gears this time. I will also not be shifting hard anymore. Lesson learned.

I liked having the 4.77 ratio but not really the KIA gears directly. I got 25k miles on them before they blew apart. The down side to the 4.77 gear ratio is freeway driving. At 65 mph you are at really high revs and you get crappy gas mileage on the freeway. They are definitely fun through the canyons though. This time I am going back to the stock gears. Eventually I want to swap a sylvia rear end into the S

Most of the better places are around $400-500, although that may have 1-way shipping included.
$200-300 would be just cracking the diff and putting in the gears. That won't include diff removal from the car. Still, that's suspiciously cheap...if I do a diff I'm having someone with rep do it.
