Rear bumper damage
Hey guys well someone backed into me today at school, scratched up the back bumper real bad, and scraped the paint in a place or two but the bumbper is not damaged to my knowlage. So any advice or sugestions. i guess i will probaly get my black exhaust valence painted but should i get the trunk and rear fenders painted to so it matches. This is my first wreck or fender bender so what should i do?

I got rear ended 16 hours after I got my S so I know how you feel. Is this something that Insurance is going to cover? The reason I ask is if it is then I would try to get a whole new bumper and absorber installed. The reason the bumper looks ok is because it is designed to take a single hit, so even though it might look ok it is probably damaged underneath. Get it done right first. Hope that helped

I would get it all painted - make sure the shop is quality though, since painting the bumper requires flex additive, which affects how the paint "shoots and sets", and it is common to see half-azzed jobs where there is clearly a different grain to the paint on the soft body parts.
I had a guy put part of his trailer hitch through my 2002 Acura TL Type S, which was a more complex fix, and it came out perfectly, so I added that to cheer you up - it can work out well, just choose the shop carefully, and inspect it in good light from a number of angles. Make sure they paint it off the car, not just taped.

Thanks rr, i regard you as one of s2ki's best so your opinion is greatly apreciated, do you think they should feather the color onto the surounding areas to make it blend better, or just get a bumper repaint.

I recommend you paint the whole thing - feathering is more of an issue where major dismantling of the car would be involved, such as the rear quarter panel. Since the bumper is so easy to remove, that is the way to go. Plus, it is low to the ground, and you want to get uniform coverage.
