After 2 track days and 10,200 miles the rear pads are fried and down to just a couple of mm's, whereas the fronts look in good condition, is this normal?

The service advisor said the braking was heavy on the rears and a mechanic said the Legend needs rear pads every 10,000miles, I said thats probably twice the weight though so that didn't surprise me!

Standard pair of rear pads are

Paul
My own personal experience with front mounted engines is that the front pads always lead the rear when it comes down to mentainance.

Best to get your braking system checked out.

Anyway I'll watch out to see what happens with mine.

UK Paul, My wife drives a 1993 Legend and gets 40,000 mi out of front pads and 75,000 mi out of the rears.

Points noted, keep them coming, to my advantage I've already in the past pointed out a lack of initial bite (put that down to first track-day) but they thought they were alright, probably were compared to a civic, so when they rang today I was happy that they mentioned it could be a warranty issue, if it means I get free pads and fitting I'll be happy, I'd already told them that when its in I want the system checked out.

Any comparison on pad costs cdelena?

Didn't use the hand brake (parking) at all after the instructors on the first track day pointed out they tend to set alight when you come in and park! This was at a track with 6-speed straights!, down to 2nd / 3rd.

Paul,

the fact that the fronts are ventilated and the rears are not would suggest that the fronts do most of the work (which in my experience is the norm), hence I think the service engineer may be talking out of his rear!

Good Luck

I haven't had any experience with the Stook yet; however, the last two Accords I've owned had four-wheel discs and the rears needed replacement before the fronts. I was told by the service advisor that this was normal, even though logic would seem to contradict this.

You will notice that our sponsor Trevor at http://www.handa-accessories.com/s2000.html (BTW, the best parts source for Hondas) has the stock pads for $31.87 front and $40.74 rear, so substantially cheaper than your quote. Maybe you can find a UK discount supplier. I don

Ditto my 1991 infiniti Q45 .
The rears always wear before the fronts .

This rear wear seems out of line to me.

I read that on a rear wheel drive car the rear brakes do 12% of the braking. I don't think the rear pads should be wearing at faster rate.
