Default Really bad review of the S2000 revisited

We had a discussion going on this site a few weeks ago about a horrid review of our beloved S2000 on www.thetruthaboutcars.com. (I could not find the discussion again.)

Review

So I followed the link and read the article. I got really mad; consequently, I wrote an email to the columnist. Here is my letter:

"I don't remember the last time I read anything so mean-spirited as your Honda S2000 review. Regardless how you look at this Honda it is one of the most interesting rides of our time. This roadster is focused on a niche market, a la the Lotus Elise. It cannot be measured by "normal" standards. Most car enthusiasts drool over the S2000. There must be a reason. Your review revealed no "truth" about this particular automobile. It was biased, subjective, and opinionated. Your website is misleading! The truth is that you, sir, are an idiot. Plain and simple."

His response:

"Huh. And there I was thinking I was intelligent, experienced and honest.

RF"

After reading the article again, if this dude trully thinks that he is "intelligent, experienced and honest", I must not be reading the same article...But, I think he is really just an idiot.

I'm sure he never gets emails like that.. everyday. He is entitled to his opinion just as you can write an article about the s2000 and get everyone on the internet to read it.

I understand if you are just having fun, but if you to really want to get your point accross, the last two sentences crush any sense of value your letter actually had.

Frankly, I think his review was fairly fair, if everyone liked the car only the richest of us would have access to it. Who cares, move on. I do commend you on actually doing something instead of just whining.

I'll bet he was using 0W5 oil at the time of the test.

Who gives a shit? He doesn't have to like the car, does he?

IMO, he doesn't "get it". But thats okay, you can't expect everyone to love this car.

He is welcome to his opinion. Remember our roadster isn't for everyone. While a kick to drive full out, it is loud and the motor is not very torque rich and the suspension will rattle your fillings out.

I agree about not liking the AP2 radio door, I think it looks out of place. The cockpit is small but at 6'4" it fits me like a glove but I am a fairly skinny 6'4". We all know the radio is bad, although he might have taken his bashing of it a bit farther than I would have.

It is a raw sports car and not everyone likes listening to a engine scream at 8-9000 rpms as much as I do (and make no mistake, I LOVE it). I'm cool with that.

Interesting review. I won't get into the falshoods that he mentions- a little deeper research and he would have had ll the facts correct.

As for the subjective parts, well, they are exactly that, subjective. Doesn't make them right or wrong, they are an opinion. As to weather I agree or not, well of course not. I hope many, many, many more people feel the same way so less people will own them and the S will become more rare.

We all love this car...that is why we are here. Forget what other people say and only concentrate on what is important and fascinating to us. I bet he was hating on it because he either can't afford it or got beat by one in a race.
