Default Rattle inside the tubes of my Ballade roll bar

Hi folks I have an S2K with the Ballade Sports V2.5 roll bar. It has something inside the tubes that rattles and I’d like to fix this.

So far, I’ve removed the roll bar from the car (I’m currently installing a new top). I've also unbolted the four 1/4” socket cap/hex bolts attaching the X brace to the front portion of the bar, these are the only bolts I see. After unbolting, the X brace seems to connect to the top of the bar like a puzzle and appears removable but I don’t want to proceed because I don’t want to damage the bar.

I wasn’t able to find any info on this and I’ve just reached out to Ballade Sports so hopefully they can guide me on how to get these damn rocks out.

Any one else deal with a rattle inside the tubes of their roll bar or have experience disassembling the Ballade Sports bar?

Update: I struck the puzzle piece with a rubber mallet and was able get the X brace off.

I can hear things rattling inside both pieces.

Unfortunately, everything is welded shut (the tube ends and legs of both pieces). Seems like a quality control issue as there’s no way rocks can get inside the tubes since there are no openings.

anyone have ideas on a fix? I don’t want to cut and re-weld so hopefully there’s an alternative solution.

Drill a hole and fill with expanding foam once location of objects isolated<in an end somewhere>plug with a grommet.

Noodles beat me to it! Isolate the section the loose part is rattling around in. May need a second hole at the opposite end so the foam can flow.

Leave it to Ballade to not even be able to produce a roll bar without issues....

Is leaving it alone not an option?

Mine has a few dinglies and jinglies inside of it too. It could just be small peices of weld, small peices of metal, or rivet material just fell in there during manufacturing. I hear it *maybe* once every 75 years or something. It doesn't make enough noise or happen enough to drive me to do something reckless like drilling holes in my roll bar.

Have you checked Ballade's site to see if they call the condition out as being normal?

The condition seems normal, or at least unlikely to cause any issues. Drilling into it and filling it with foam which is prone to trapping water WILL, however, cause an issue.

It's in the interior, why the hell would they go through a car wash with the top down?

Lol I understood the joke.

However, moisture in the form of humidity, rain ingress, wet shoes/clothes, spills, etc does make its way into the interior.

Expanding foam isn't really too great for automotive use. And drilling holes into a roll bar is going to make it a lot harder for Ballade to assist with any kind of warranty or craftsmanship issue.
