Today I had a great opportunity to drive hard in AutoX in a great rainstorm. I was a little worried about the conditions. I must say, Dunlop Dirrezza's are awesome. The car took a lot before it let the puddles toss it around some.

Also, I contemplated leaving the top down, but opted for the top up as I am a wuss.

cool so when you do this do you need the windows up or can you still leave them down?

Windows down....but up might be better...

The only water that came in was where it went around the windshield and SLOWLY dripped on the door panel.

So it had a few sprinkles on it.

Windows up and that wouldn't happen.

Weird about the 75mph and still getting wet.... I didn't start getting wet till I dropped to like 55-60.

People say that but I have never had any issue with my 01 in the rain... i drive with traffic and the car is fine, i even occasionally drive like 80-85 and no problem... I just watch for puddles (as anyone in any car should) and drive smooth and the car is fine.... Not sure why everyone is so scared of this car in the rain... bad tires? don't know how to handle a car like this in the rain? ldk.

Was discussing this with some friends yesterday........brought up the Mythbusters show - they just did a topic on convertibles and driving in the rain.

ive driven it during moderate rain at 60+ mph... cabin completely dry .. only a few droplet of water streaks along the top of the window and then gets flung in the cabin but other than that nothing

yes it does garner some looks from other motorists

anyone who is afraid of driving in the rain has either never spent money for good tires or has no foot control.

in my expirience, the mich pilot sport a/s plus is the best wet dry performance money can buy. they are amazing when its dry, and amazing when its wet. it takes quite a but of water and quite a bit of speed to make them squirrley...

so go spend the extra $30 a tire and go get same GOOD tires...

and ya the top down trick does work...

Not really. If you're in a bad storm, the water from the windshield will move to your side windows; climb up slowly and drip inside from shoulder level. Windows down, up, does not matter. If rain is heavy enough, it comes in, just not from above I still love it.
