Nothing strong to add to the thread other than: I heart my Quickjack. I have the normal AC version and use it for my A4, Jeep (with adapters) and S2000. I considered the 12V version but have yet to have a need for it.
I was on the fence when Home Depot had an unusually good sale (They go on sale there a lot, just not usually for this much of a discount). Picked it up and am so glad I did. I'm a big guy and can easily get under the S with it lifted up. I still use jack stands but it's so much faster to get it up there. Maybe two minutes from pulling in to having it off the ground, and that's if I have to slide the jacks over to the car.

I bought the 12v and then bought a jump start battery.

I actually found one that looks interesting. The "AutoLift 3000" looks to be a pretty good option. You would still need a drill but it's cheaper, lighter, maintenance free, and a Amazon Jump-Boxcan run your drill more than long enough to use it a few times.

I don't think I would feel particularly safe under that lift. It doesn't look like it would stretch to the jack points, and I don't know if I would trust my luck to crawl under that while it can tip one way or the other.
