Thumbs up Quick question...

I'm looking at buying a 2001 Berlina Black S2k. I found this car on the internet and before I go look at it, I was wondering if the 01's had the vinyl/plastic type top. I can see it has a plastic rear window, but was actually wondering about the top itself. My main question is can I put a newer (02-03) fabric type top with the glass window on it? Where would I buy a top like that and how hard are they to install? THanks

p.s. Sorry for the noob question, just looking for some help before I buy this car.

'00 & '01 have plastic rear windows stock.

There are 2 ways to convert to glass:

You can replace with an oem glass rear window top from a later model stook if you also get the top frame to go with it.

You can buy a Robbins top (Topsonline or CabrioWorld) with the MY00-01 glass conversion kit. The frame remains the same with a slight modification using straps.

Replacing the top is not difficult but is very time consuming. It can take a newbie with average mechanical skill 8-12hrs of real work.

BTW...the oem material on all years is pretty much the same. While it looks somewhat like fabric, both are vinyl. A Robbins top can be had in fabric canvas though and is an interesting mod.
