Questions of air intake modifications.

Questions of air intake modifications.
I feel that some further air intake modifications would help my S2000's performance in the 2500 to 6000 rpm range. I installed a K&N air filter, and it did some good. But the stock air filter box seems very restrictive. Would like one of those full range electric superchargers some cars had back in the 50's when I was a kid, but none seem to be around. Don't want a belt driven charger, due to engine pull and cost.
I tried driving the car with the filter box top off, but only briefly as I read that this really requires some reconfiguaration of vacuum sensors and computer resets to work properly. I'm looking at, and comparing, the K&N filter charger, which is a fairly stock unit that provides for all the sensors and includes an open top box with a scoop to get more cool air from the grill to the area of the filter. I'm also looking at a cool air induction unit, which incorporates a longer 3" intake tube, and positions the filter at the bottom of the engine compartment, supposedly to get more cool air, along with a water protection valve. Here I'm concerned about air restrictions from the longer intake hose.
Any suggestions on these, and other options, will be appreciated.
Thanks,
Richard
