Question whether or not this S2K is too much or not.....
I'm brand new to this site and pretty much to the S2000's in general. Right now I have a 2002 Nissan Sentra SER SpecV, but I plan on selling it and getting an S2000 either now or deffinately around March time frame. Anyway, before I start rambling on I am in the process of looking around and getting a good feel for how much I"m looking at brand new or used. Friend of mine went to our local Honda Dealership today and asked the price on a White Sk2. It's a 2000 w/ 14,000 miles on it. Now my question is this, is $28,000 too much, cause when I was looking around I saw some.....same year for like 24,000 and below. I mean is it me or is that a little to high considering it's a 2000. Honeslty I could just save like 4-5K and get a new one. What I don't understand is this. My boy went to the Nissan dealership to find out if he could trade in his S2K for a 350Z, just for kicks. Anyway once they appraised his car they told him that his car was worth only like $20,500. Matter of fact they even said that the Honda dealership told them that as well. I guess the reason why I'm asking is because my boys car is a 2001 and it has like 4,000 miles less than the White S2K I was looking at. Just curious if that's to much or if it's right where it needs to be. Thanks for any feedback.

it has low mileage... but i would think $28k is high, unless its got lots of mods that you like!
for 28k, i would just spend a bit more and get a new one-
or find one more reasonably priced.

That's exactly what I'm saying, I totally agree with you both on what you said. As far as I'm concerned about the mods on that car, it's totally stock. I thought that was a little too much for that car. I even went to KBB.com and NADA.com just to get an average price. When I went to the KBB. com site I got figures for the Retail and Trade-in value. Trade-in value was like 19,700 and retail was only like 21,000 and that was in EXCELLENT condition mind you. But like I told the dealership, I wasn't even planning on getting one until next year. Just thought I had some chance in hell getting one now before I deploy. Nudge1201, what have you seen them go for where you are because I'm right next door to you, I'm here in Shreveport, La.

If you're considering spending more for a new car, then you should wait until March and buy a 2004. The minimal details on the 04 are described in other threads, and they look appealing.
If you want to save money and buy used, then I think you should also wait until March. The market for 00-03 S2000s should be further depressed by the release of the 2004.
Anyway, that's what I would do.

Appreciate the feedback. You guys seem really cool, not making me feel like an ass for asking these types of questions. I'm deffinately getting one, only hard thing about it, is having to wait until next spring.

I don't even care about how low milege it is. I've just bought an '03 for 1,700$ more than that!, plus a whole bunch of improvement and fixed over '00 and '01.
If you concidering to pay 28,000$ for an '00, you better off drive out the lot with your own, brandnew, S2000 for a little north of 29,000$, don't you think?
