How far over the limit are you? If the penalty is not so bad just turn it in at lease end. Or, sell it to me!

It's all negotiable.

Figure out what you're going to owe AHFC at the end of the lease and try to work it into the deal ("I'll pay $32,000 for a new S2K, which number includes $350.00 (or whatever) for my over-mileage fee."). I just ended a lease on an '04 (and picked up an '06 in Suzuka!). They covered my last month's payment and my overmileage ($1000.00 altogether). Sales price of the car was $30,795.00

Honda was very forgiving of nicks and dings during the inspection (which took place before I indicated I was going to re-up).

did they ask you about if you did your scheduled maintenace or not. my car is in pretty good shape and in good mileage, but i have not done maintenance through honda, i have done it in the back yard. did they try to hit you with that or even bring it up?

When we turned in our Acura Legend from a lease they were very fair with us. I had expected nit picking on the condition of the car. not at all. the car was in average condition and we got well over the guarantee price of the car.

I think I had heard the 299 lease deal was continued through september, but I don't know what date.

They sent an inspector out to my place. She wanted to see my most recent receipt for an oil change and that was it, maintenance-wise. Otherwise, she did a pretty thorough inspection, but said AHFC was not as strict as other leasing companies. There was about $250 worth of damage to the front bumper (my neighbors park by braille), but that was within AHFC's $500.00 limit. Some nicks and smudges elsewhere. Scrapes on the rims were noted, and ignored. AHFC doesn't hit you for scraped rims.

She also noted that the car had had some damage and repairs made to the left rear quarter panel. I told her I hadn't done it (and I hadn't!) and that, in fact, I had leased the car with just eight miles on it. She insisted it was there (I couldn't see it) and said it was fairly common for cars to get nicked and scraped in transit. Her job sometimes took her down to the harbor to inspect cars coming off the boat to spot that sort of thing so it could be fixed before the car made it to the dealer's lot.

Makes sense, I guess.

Anyway -- good luck whichever way you decide to go. Try not to sweat it too much.

i think hondas damage limit is $1500. you can also extend your lease by a month or so to even out your milage and look for a good deal. by the way the $299 lease deal is over for now.

Thanks for all the replies....at 299, re-upping for the S is a no-brainer (currently paying 446 -1000 down) ...but assming that deal is gone, I am thinking that I might be ready for a little more room for my daily....I was kinda hoping that I could say to the two dealers "listen, its between the S and the TL-S or RDX, who wants my businesss?" in the hopes that my good credit with HAF could set up a minor bidding war. Lease ends in Jan so I can take a bit of a wait 'em out strategy. My thought is that I'll be the sale they can make when they just need to move a unit. Am I dreaming?

I'd be interested in any lease deals.. My car is in route, due in a few weeks. I'm planning to buy right now, but can always switch to a lease before mid october and the paperwork is signed.

right now a lease is about $490 and the buy w $0 down is about $590, makes sense to buy I think.
