Question on reinforced differential with 4.57 gear set
Looking to purchase 4.57 final drive gear for MY04. I am curious how necessary it is to add a comptech-reinforced differential when I do the mod. I do not track my car so it is not under heavy load at all times. Anyone have any problems changing the final drive gear and keeping stock differential. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

The labor of installing the CompTech reinforced is the same as installing the gear set. But if you do them both at the same time, you save on labor. There is no technical differances with installing gears in one or the other.
The generally and NA car should be fine with the stock diff, but any FI car should have this upgraded. But again, there is a number of cars with and with this diff upgrade. Some NA and some FI. To date I do not belive any of them have has diff failures. It is that last point the sold me on the idea for my car (I am NA) and why we even sell them.

Thank you all for the information, but I still have a choice to make and I am not sure which one to make.
A. I get the 4.57 final drive gear and keep the stock differential
B. I have comptech put the gear in and use there reinforced differential.
My over all concern is can the stock differential handle the new 4.57 gear. As I said before I don
