Default Question: Cruise Control

Hey all,

I was drivin around tonight, And decided to test out the cruise control, Which I never use. So I engage it and everything is working smooth. I go to stop the cruise control, By pressing the brake and it makes this very quick crack sound up near the digital speedo. I was hoping I didn't break anything. But the car was still moving Then I engaged the cruise control again and this time, Pressed the cruise button to shut it off, And it still made that odd but very quick cracking sound near the speedo..

Is this normal?
Thanks

You are hearing the gas pedal being released when you cancel the cruise. Put your foot back over the pedal and hold you foot just off the pedal's surface. Then cancel the cruise, you will feel the pedal spring back and hit your foot. It's normal. If you want to cancel the cruise with out hitting the brakes or pushing the main switch, just push both set/accel switches on the wheel. The cruise will cancel.

I use cruise control all the time.
Quite nice to sit back and cruise, especially on flat highways I see around here.

ADAM_ROB_UK,

Try sending HARTOPGUY at hardtopguy.com an e-mail. My understanding is that he has a good price and wonderful service.

I use mine all the time as well. Sometimes I cancel the cruz by tapping the clutch pedal.

I use my cruise where ever I go. In all of my vehicles.

Also, the clutch will disengage cruise control. I did not know about the accel/decell button technique for disengaging cruise control, so to turn off cruise control w/o lighting my brake lights, I'd lightly push the clutch in just a little bit. I doubt the clutch even noticed, and the cruise control disengages.

Cruise control in the S2k is very good, IMO. Going up and down gentle hills, I rarely see it vary by more than +/- 1 mph. Most of the other cars I've driven will vary +/- 5mph at freeway speeds under cruise control, although that might have something to do with the available power (the S2k has the best power/weight ratio of any of the cars I've driven with cruise control).
