Anys, it's not the power that counts, its the stupidity of the driver. Kids such as 15 or 16 shouldn't be allowed to drive. All they think about is RACE RACE RACE, my car is faster then urs blah blah blah.

yes i know, i'm only 17 speak for my self. I'm mature for my age i guess.
I know, I know, I was just throwin' out a random scale, didn't put much deep thought into it. But thanks Accord98, it's nice to hear such a reasonable response from you at 17, too bad there aren't more like you.

But I have to say it is about more than the stupidity of the driver, the S2000 is a car that will bite you in the ass faster than you'll know what happened if you push it too far, it's been know to surprise many an inexperienced driver who was accustomed to handling characteristics of a front-driver. If I were you, and I had my sights on something in the 32K $ range, I would put my name on the list at the local Subaru dealer for a WRX STi. Too bad it looks so boy-racer, but I guess some people might like that look. But it's hard to argue with all-wheel drive and 300 HP. Dayyyum.

I agree with the statements above about you killing yourself with this car at 18. I probably would have as well.

The ride is harsh. But your young so it probably won't matter to you.

I would go with the sTi. AWD and more power. I think it wil be better at the drags as well. Good luck with whatever choice you make.

Personally if I had to drive the S daily, I wouldn't want it. Too small, parking worries (for me anyway), terrible in the rain, snow, rear tires ware waaay too fast, uncomfortable for long trips, etc...

Power wise it is ok, the fun factor overways the lack of torque IMO.

Driving a rwd truck is nothing like driving a light weight rwd car. Just drive sanely and you will not have any trouble with rwd. The only cars I have ever had have been RWD and I have never had a wreck.
I would suggest looking at the EVO, although I am biased. If I had not changed so much stuff on my S, I would seriously consider trading for it.

I would have loved to have a car like an S when I was 18, now in my 40's I am selling my soul to buy a new 2003 model in the UK. Very jealous.

Accord98 just be careful when you get it and just think what you will be buying when you are in your 40's.

Cheers, Kev .

I think that you should not get a nice car like that for your first car. The payments are usually about 500 dollars a month.

But anyways, thanx for all your concern's...

Kevin, When i turn 40...and if i have a decent job...i'll go with a BMW....

i'm really getting tired of the FWD, Can't really do anything, RWD's r better, donutz n stuff.
I will never understand the facination with donuts. Doing donuts is like nascar on a REALLY short track going REALLY slow in a REALLY small grid. In other words, take away the two coolest things about nascar, the speed and the traffic, and put it on a helo pad.

Sorry for the rant.... I don't mean to step on any toes. I guess my point can be expressed in fewer words...

Mustang Mach1 = 300hp and 300+ lb/ft = "donutz n stuff"

... and I believe that car is cheaper than an s2k.
