In the UK you'd have virtually NO CHANCE of getting insured on an S2000 at 18!

I just bought one, I collect it next Friday and I am sooooooooooo looking forward to getting behind the wheel.
Same problem in Belgium... my wife got hers (Santa brought it... for me but she drive's it) and couldn't find an insurrance, because by definition 240bhp is too much for a yound woman of 25 springs. Today she pays around 2500 EUR per year for an all-inclusive insurance.

Tell me again, there is some sort of recession going on?

You are looking at somewhere around $500 per month(depending on down) in car payments and probably, at your age, at least another $200 per month in insurance.

Tell me about it - I'm being quoted between 1800 and 3500 EUR (27 year old). I actually live in Switzerland where it's not so bad (around 1200 EUR). My problem is that Swiss companies won't insure a UK reg car but I need cover for ONE DAY just to drive it from UK to Switzerland but it's impossible!

Oh well, it's worth the hassle.

I put $0 down on a 3 year lease and pay $324 a month. I got the hook up.

Nah, road racing isn't my type of thing, Type R, or Type S....no...they're FWD, i'm really getting tired of the FWD, Can't really do anything, RWD's r better, donutz n stuff.Plus they're like 25k or somehting like that....And 240hp car isn't alot, considering the STI is 4WD, and turbo'd with 300hp(04 model)I'm in the process of it... , not sayin i will. Since t/q is a lack of issue on the s2k, it's a great car non the less.

That's because Europe is a little more advanced than the USA in terms of who it lets drive what. My opinion, there should be a graduated scale here in the USA for age to horsepower in a car. Something like 16 to 19 year olds can't drive anything over 100 HP, 20 to 24 up to 200 HP, 25 or older no limits. This would force young, testosterone-bloated males to drive a car that would limit their chances of becoming a fatality statistic. But it won't happen, such a thing would make too much sense.

John, 16-19 100hp?...

I bet every1 would be pimpin in the geo metro...

Anys, it's not the power that counts, its the stupidity of the driver. Kids such as 15 or 16 shouldn't be allowed to drive. All they think about is RACE RACE RACE, my car is faster then urs blah blah blah.

yes i know, i'm only 17 speak for my self. I'm mature for my age i guess.

So what do you plan on doing with the car in terms of auto-x, street racing, daily driver etc...You are young and probably not too much experience in RWD cars. For the sake of your life and the life of other and my insurance I would really think this through. If your going to auto-x it then you'll need a lot of months of track practice. If street racing is you thing, then I recommened an other car. Some members suggested a STi...I agree with this. And if it's just for daily driving then I say go for it, as long as you drive safe. I don't want to see anymore totalled S2000s.
I'm not sure if you could get a S2 without putting anything down. I would put a least 8-10K down and financing will probably around ~300 per/month. Insurance on a 18 yr old...~250.00...

At 18 with an S2k is certain death! I know I would've been. Good luck.
