Question about rear window
I will be buying a used S2000 and iv noticed most of the rear windows look pretty worn that I have seen. So if the car is still in warrenty, do you think I could get honda to replace that free of charge?
If the plastic window is replaced they dont have to give you a whole new top along with it do they? If so I wouldent mind a new one of thoughs as well but I would assume they would not do it because its expensive.
Thanks

least likely... very least likely. I would ask the dealer to replace it before they give it to you. because they should sell you the car in great shape.
the rear window has been replaced in the past by a few dealerships due to wear on some cars as a one-time fix.
if you want to replace the top/rearwindow/&labor costs, it will run you $1600. That DOES include the top, but even if you want the rear window replaced, you are still looking at somewhere around the neighbor hood of $1200 (guesstimate)

So..I can get a whole new top with window and labor cost included for 1,600. But if I get JUST the window it still cost 1,200? That sounds odd...
So your better off just getting a whole new top. Also, Is the price the same if you get the new top with the glass window? or is that more?
I was actually expecting a price of 3,000 or so for everything including the top.
But i'm really curious why its still so much for just the window, could you please explain it?
If it's less then 2,000 I think after the other mods are done, i'd get the new top with glass window. I know, I know, someones gonna say I should just get a 2002. Thing is I wouldent be able to afford that for a while..soo yeah.
Thanks for your help.

well, they must perform the same amount of labor for the rear window as they will for the entire top - thus the reason why I estimate the costs to be around $1200.
if you want to invest in getting a glass rear window, sure there are mods out there that will accomidate it but until Honda comes out with a retrofit kit (which who knows if they will or not), you will basically need not only the new rear window and top but also the structure of the folding top as well. the new top folds down slightly different to accomidate a glass rear window and you cant' just swap it out.
hope this helps.

The window costs $169 at Mejestic Honda. Buy the service manual and it walks you through step by step. Looks pretty easy. Probably take 2-4 hours to complete.
