Question about insurance/soft top replacement
Hey guys someone cut my soft top open, so I'm now thinking about putting a claim through my insurance. Does anyone in the area work for or own an auto upholstery shop so that I can get an estimate. Ideally what I'd like to do is take the money my insurance company sends me and put it towards a hard top rather than another soft top.

I'm pretty sure that with full coverage insurance you have the option to get it repaired to OEM specs. Meaning that looking at the car it would look as if the top were never harmed. Can anyone verify this?

Would they even try to REPAIR a soft top? I thought they would be replaced whenever cut. What would a repaired soft top look like and how would it hold up under repeated opening and closing?

#*$& that top up even more to the point that is non-repairable. It'll assure they don't try to have it repaired.

my 2004 in great shape but showing some signs of wear, was vandalized while in a body shop parking lot over night, they took responsibility. they said they paid (calif prices) about 1100 to have the top put back, complete...new rubber here and there too...then it was discovered that the frame was bent...really bad...would not close right, took weeks to back and forth till i suggested this...another 1600 i was told was spent, now it is 100%. no new rear window was needed, all factory honda parts and a specialy shop doing all the work. hope this helps. your car is newer so i can't see why they would not replace the top...oh...making a deal for money towards a hardtop may not work as they have a responsibility and contract that says repair or replace parts rather than:"ok...do whatever you want with the money which makes better sense to you".
