I got in my car today to go out to lunch at work and when I turned the ignition on, the display said "CHECK FUEL CAP". So I checked it and it was closed and fine. Then it did it again... so I got out... opened it and closed it again and made sure I heard at least three clicks. Sure enough... kept doing it... so one more time but nothing... still comes on.
Any idea what it could be?

Make sure that when you tighten the cap that you are gripping the outside edge of the cap. It seems that eventually it gets loose and the normal way of tightening via holding the wedge in the middle does not work. This same thing happened to me and I got a check engine light because of it.
