Recently I have seen a few post about painting the calipers. I intend to do this when I won't freeze my ass off. My question is can I use the spraypaint they sell for BBQ's ? I noticed with Gregs car, even with the proper paint it burned. What temp. do the calipers get up to?
Do you think this type of paint will be better or worse?
Thanks guys!!
PS. Im glad the boards back up! I was bored stiff

Under racing conditions the rotors can easily get well over 1000F. On the street they may not see half that. Caliper paint is designed for the application and header paint on a well prepared surface will work. I wouldn't put grill paint high on the list, but worse case it will just look like shit.

Ay Carumba...Shows what I know I figured it maybe got to about 250 degrees, calipers that is. But I guess with 1000 deg. temps 1/8" away it would get pretty hot!
Thanks for the tip, I'll get the proper stuff

Here's a source for Porsche caliper paint. I would think it would be a quality product. Go to: http://www.tweeks.com/products2.html and scroll down until you see the photo.

The product they're selling is just the Folia -Tec stuff ( www.foliatec.de ). I wouldn't encourage anyone to buy the Folia-Tec product since it's definitely not worth $50 and won't survive under hard driving conditions .
I personally think it is the best thing to leave the calipers unpainted or to paint 'em black so you won't notice when the color fades or the finish is harmed.
Porsche does not offer such a product at all.
Anyone asked a good body shop about their recommendations on coloring the calipers? Maybe they have nice advice...
