I was thinking about this too, but have hesitated because I do not want to do it the wrong way. Any special way of making sure the new holes stay straight....Could you post the dimensions, depths, sizes of drill bits, taps etc.
Thanks
Chris

Great job! 5 stars again. You've become the Asian Rick Hesel, a little more perverted though.

Cool. How much lighter in weight is the shift knob compared to stock after drilling it out?.

The major problem was getting the knob chucked correctly in the lathe. The egg shape of the knob is pretty hard to chuck correctly. My friend says it would've been easier for him to make a new knob instead of rebore the old one, since on a new knob, he could've done the hole first, then the egg shape (you have to understand how a lathe works to understand that one). But, a new knob wouldn't have the gear pattern, so I needed to use the stock knob for the project.

OHHHH a lathe. I assumed yoou used a drill press to drill & tap.

Since I have no lathe, what do you guys think of the possibilities of using a drill press for this mod?

I'd guess that the egg shape wold still be a challenge to hold in place ?

Thx,
Chris
