Default Putting top up/down with engine running

The manual states to not operate the top when the engine is running. I'm not talking about putting the top down while the car is moving, just when the engine is running. Does anyone do this? Will it cause any problems. Thanks.

Pretty much everyone on here puts the top up/down when the engine is running. I think it's just a safety precaution that Honda's lawyers suggested, so they put it there.

Honestly, operating your top when the engine is off isn't good and could kill your battery if your cars sits for days at a time.

In my 4+ years of ownership, I always put the top up/down when the engine is running. No problems so far.

I agree about running the battery down - do it while engine is running.
I AM a liitle aggravated about having to have the emergency brake on.

Here is a great story - God's honest truth. My buddy and I were heading back to Albany, NY from the horse races at Saratoga on I -87. I was driving my Camaro 396 SS/RS convertible(this was years ago when I was 24) and we had the top down. It started to POUR and I was going to stop to put the top up - he said NO!!!! Seems the same negative air pressure that will suck papers out of the car ALSO prevents the rain from getting in!!! So there we were - cruising along at 70MPH, wipers going like crazy - AND BONE DRY!!! People thought we were nuts. We DID have to slow down to get off the interstate and I basically hit the brakes and the TOP UP switch at the same time and stopped under an overpass. Result - minimal water in the car - I COULD PUT THE TOP UP OR DOWN WHILE MOVING.

Not so the S2000!!!!

5km/h you can still operate the top, I put it up and down while slowly moving out of my driveway.

There is some people that have gotten rid of this though, I think you can safely operate it up to 10km/h or maybe even 15km/h

yes, there is a thread that shows how to do it. all you do is cut or (de-plug) the the vehicle speed sensor wire to the top (under the passenger dash). I did it, and LOVE IT! Adds a bit of bling bling to your ride

I've got the top down while rolling mod and it's great for when you're stuck in traffic and you're moving slowly. Also great when you're driving through a parking lot. I usually drop the top at speeds less than 15mph.

Dave22 and Moparacker did the mod for me. They pulled the speed sensor wire rather than cutting it so I can put it back later on. I still have to pull the e-brake up one click to drop the top.

i just cut mine. too lazy to crawl under there and fidgit with that plug. I'll just crimp it later, if I ever have to.... oh, the traffic thing rocks! I hate driving 80 and then hitting bumper to bumper traffic. The sun is hot at <15 mph.
