It's nothing personal, I'm sure. I got similar abuse at the same suggestion a couple weeks ago.

see the thread here:

One thread mentioned that there may be another link to a speed sensor. In addition to the hand brake, the switch is deactivated if the speed is not zero. If so, that's harder to defeat. The person who mentioned it said that once the top was started, moving off on a roll was possible with just one clik of the hand brake.

FWIW.

(Just saw the post above mine - I think that was the thread..)

The speed sensor shouldn't be that difficult to fool. I'm sure it is just a voltage; the faster you go, the higher the voltage. Find out the voltage at zero. Cut the line. Put a sized resistor to a switch hot lead and your car top will always think it is going 0mph.

There is probably a good reason they put that limit on there. I have images of a one time use $5000 speed brake.

Hey Euro guys! The Euro version of the Del Sol had the trunk lift and grab the top. You could do that under 20kph, right? We had to get out of the car and manually stow it. Honda probably saw a lawsuit waiting to happen.

Maybe he just wants to use it as a drag chute Seriously, it takes just 6 seconds for a top change. The S2000 is a work of art to look at, if they are beeping at you while you're moving the top, it's because they want you to know you have a beautiful car and they love convertables. Why else would they point their finger upwards towards the sky?
