Never drove the FRS, but the one thing that I noticed when first started test driving the S2000 ---> noise. If you are used to low road noise from cars built 2010 and newer, you maybe annoyed by the noise level in a stock S2000. If you like listening to the stereo, you'll need to upgrade the OEM unit. And that's with the roof up. Roof down = subwoofer, for sure.
The connection between driver and road is supreme. Worth the hassles of a sports car, IMHO. Simple as that.

ill add my 2 cents here...... even my supercharged s2000 seem slow, but speed is subjective. Like someone has already said, the s2k is a sum of its parts that make it great. One thing the s2000 has that many cars don't is TONS OF CHARACTER. The high revving engine, the drop top, the awesome shifter make this car feel like its got a personality of its own when you drive it. it truly is a car you wake up and get excited to drive every day. I have had mine for 7 years and I still look forward to driving it. There are plenty of BRZ/FRS out there new and used. Get an s2k while you can

Look at the rolling start #'s for both cars, that's the real world difference, 0.8 seconds.

I've driven an AP2 with Flashpro and the difference is massive, completely different car and far more usable power delivery.

I called and the guy told me a 50 yr old lady who is a single owner and who provided extensive service records (available) including a recent new brakes/rotors and tires traded it in. I think this is a legit find. Its certainly expensive but it will hold its value. I confirmed with the sales manager that he will be there and he will let me take it for a test drive. So..... ill keep you all posted!
he also said its a no haggling price.. price is what it is.. which is a lot!

My wife drives the FRS automatic. I drive that car often when my wife needs to take my Rav4 (my daily). Everything about the way the FRS feels good as mentioned in your original post. I can see where you are coming from with your comments about the FRS because I drive it often. I keep telling myself I should of taught my wife how to drive manual so we could of bought the manual instead of the automatic transmission FRS.
Now with that said, when i get in to my Ap1 on the weekends, it is like 10x the better feeling than the FRS. Maybe more. Just the pure driving experience is much better in the S. Being a convertible is just a bonus. As someone mentioned this car is just raw. It's basically just turn the key (with push start of course) and go type of car.
Only thing I can see you missing is that new car feel but you will forget all that once you start driving the car. Only regret I have about my S is that I didn't buy it new when it was still on the dealer floor. I will never know what a S2000 felt like when it was brand new.

I do appreciate this post. It is helping me to make my decision.
Also, I love that your wife drives a 2 door sports coupe as well. It took a master plan from me (and some negotiation) but i convinced her to buy a manual 2015 wrx for our second car. Its like the red light district in my drive way. which hooker should I ride today? The rex or the frs,.. maybe soon to be the s2k

As I mentioned in my first post, I have an addiction. I am telling myself that the cure is an "s2k". Based on peoples reviews of the car it sounds as though the next to closest raw experience I can get is if I literally buy, feed and ride a horse to and from work each day.
I dunno man,.. what do you think is the answer to my solution? Dont see drugs
