Probably every one of us has plowed the nose of the S2K into a parking wheel-stop or a curb at least once (or maybe more than once for us slow learners). The combination of the low nose and rearward seating position make this pretty inevitable. Last week my wife put some ugly scratches on the lower edge of the apron; they're visible from standing height.

So I'm looking for a solution that (1) covers this up, and (2) provides a little future protection. Since we also have a steep driveway that the nose barely clears, a front spoiler isn't possible. I was wondering if anyone has seen or heard of something like a tough rubber strip that bolts along the bottom of the apron and wraps up an inch or so around the front edge. (I remember that John Andaloft rigged something himself using special industrual-strength material from a conveyor belt, but I don't have any way to get this stuff and it didn't wrap around the front edge anyway.)

If you're aware of something like this (or would like one yourself), please post. And if this thing doesn't exist already, all you zany accessory-makers out there can feel free to take this idea and run with it. I won't even charge you a royalty (though I'll volunteer to be a beta-tester).

JohnA has a neat little bit of protection, a very dense plastic piece bolted up against the bottom of the bumper. Hopefully he can take a picture.

My front spoiler does the job for me.

The front spoiler will protect that area as Jay stated.

I just reaized today that the Colgan bra I placed yesterday will protect the front lower edge of the bumper as well.

I could get a piece of StonGard cut to fit the bottom of the bumper, we have made custom parts for the factory spoiler.

That would offer you at least some protecton.

That's pretty interesting, especially the second photo. It looks like StonGard held up rather well to whatever scraped the fender and the spoiler. Do you remember what the guy hit?

And thanks for the idea. I may take you up on it if I can't find anything thick and rubbery.

Front lip spoiler works for me. Mine's lowered so I need all the help I can get. Mine's cracked and scraped pretty bad but the bumper underneath is perfect, a little too perfect in fact.

It would be cool to have a 3/16" molded clear plastic piece you could attach (via screw or adhesive)...that way when you tear it up..you just replace that part... I think the stone guard would be eaten up by hitting a curb/driveway-too-steep situation.

Some questions:

Which lip spoiler do you have?

How much does it lower the edge and extend forward from the edge?

What did it cost?

Thanks!

mine gets scraped, knocked into, bugged, all things under the sun. i consider it a wear item and will replace it when it falls off.
