Thank you very much for the update. Glad that I didn't waste $ on the Autel.

eBay seller lists key as 2004 compatible so I assumed their photo was wrong. I have contacted them. Will see if they update the listing.

(anyone want a deal on a pair of AP1 keys?)

The Autel AP200 wouldn't be a waste if you buy the correct blanks and have them cut.

Will the Autel AP200 work w/ genuine Honda oem blank keys?

I bought a genuine oem blank (red H) for my Ap1 in 2014... procrastinated getting it cut & programmed ever since tho.

I assume the genuine oem A01 isn't "Writable"/clone'able like those eBay ones, and it's the other way around - need to program ecu, or add new key to ecu? (as it has its' own unique code, un-writable/clone'able?)

Edit:
Just checked bag/key... my key is exact same as this one...

@Jah2000 There are two types of blank immobilizer keys - (1) writable/clone-able/programmable where the transponder of an existing working key is cloned to the new blank and the ECM doesn't know the difference, and (2) fixed transponder where the ECM must be programmed to accept the transponder signal from the new blank. All OEM keys are fixed transponder and the programming service is handled by the dealer OR you can DIY it via the Autel AP200 OR the CK-100. Yes, the Autel AP200 will work with genuine Honda OEM blanks.

I have ordered this blank : 35113-S9A-A01
https://www.hondapartsnow.com/genuin...3-s9a-a01.html

Which is said to be suitable for my 2004.

Am I correct in thinking that with the Autel :
1. I should follow the instructions on page 4 of the TSB mentioned above - with the Autel taking the place of the HDS?
2. Adding a single key will not affect my 3 original keys?

TIA, Jim

With the Autel AP200, you can:

Delete all previously programmed keys and start a new library.
or you can just add a key to your existing library.

And then enjoy an awesome Honda specific diagnostic tool thereafter.

Sweet that the cheaper AP200 can program the ECM!!
I've only found out about this cheaper AP200 from these very recent posts... before, the only one I've read of was the expensive CK-100; which some members offer renting out (I'd never buy one myself).

A few years ago, I was planning to just have a 3rd-party/Yelp car-locksmith cut & program my key/ecm... but they all charge around $90-110.
Seeing that the AP200 is much cheaper than a one-time locksmith service, I will just get the AP200... bonus, I can use it to check for any future engine-codes/check-engine lights!

Where in California are you? If you're in the Bay Area, you could come by and I can program the keys for you. Of course, the vehicle must be registered to you and you'd have to show your ID before I'd do it.

I'm in SoCal.

Curious... why doesn't the newer black/red AP2500 doesn't work?

Older white AP200 looks to be discontinued, only available on eBay from overseas.

Just a WAG but Autel probably prefers selling their much more expensive, professional key programming tools. I guess I got lucky when I bought one last week from BestBuy. It was dropped shipped by Autel. Now marked discontinued / legacy at Autel.
